About the Institute
The Institute for Insight in the Public Services (IIPS) is a joint initiative between BMRB Social Research and its sister company, Henley Centre HeadlightVision. Its purpose is to develop and promote the use of citizen insight to support the transformation of public service delivery in the UK.
The role of the IIPS is to:
- Share ongoing analysis of social change in Britain, exploring how the values, aspirations and resources of the population are changing, and the implications for service providers.
- Support innovation by identifying the techniques and processes necessary to engage with citizens and understand their needs and expectations, at a pan-government level and more locally.
- Focus on developing better internal processes for Whitehall departments, local authorities and service delivery bodies, to translate insight into action and support better connections between government research, strategy, and front line staff.
The IIPS brings global insights to UK governance, drawing on good practice in service delivery from around the world. This includes research with citizens to explore the relationship they have with their governments on a global basis, to better understand the opportunities and challenges at home.
Where appropriate, we draw on our international network of WPP companies to utilise and explore how private sector innovation and practices in the application of consumer insight can benefit the public sector.
Most importantly, we provide a forum for exchange for those working across government, on the key issues of connectivity with the public.
How do we share our insight?
The IIPS holds quarterly breakfast briefings to share its work and research findings. It produces short pamphlets and 'how to' guides on process and technique innovation. It hosts roundtables to debate key challenges and share good practice.
